The Benefit of a “Home” Clinic

Traveling physical therapy can be a rewarding career that takes you to various locations, allowing you to make a difference in patients’ lives. However, it also comes with its fair share of challenges and stress, such as frequent relocations, adjusting to new work environments, and being away from family and friends. That’s why our full-time PT and OT opportunities at PT Northwest are designed to provide the support you need, from professional guidance to a collaborative work environment, ensuring you’re never alone on your journey.

JB: What inspired you to transition from a traveling PT to a full-time position at PT Northwest?

JH: I decided to transition from a traveling physical therapist to a full-time position at PT Northwest because the atmosphere is genuinely fun and enjoyable, to the point where coming to work doesn’t feel like a job at all. Even on days when I’m feeling down, I find that being here lifts my spirits.

I also feel immensely respected as a clinician at PT Northwest. Despite the transition from traveling, where I enjoyed a high degree of autonomy and individuality, I continue to experience that same level of independence here. My decisions are respected, and I have the freedom to treat my patients as I see fit.

Moreover, I appreciate that my boss functions as a leader rather than a manager. This distinction is crucial for me, as I thrive in environments where I am not simply told what to do but am given the respect and trust to exercise my professional judgment. Knowing that I am valued and respected allows me to provide the best possible care for my patients.

The staff at PT Northwest is another significant factor in my decision. The team is fun, encouraging, and fosters a strong sense of mentorship. This supportive and collaborative environment not only enhances my professional growth but also makes each day at work something to look forward to.

Overall, the unique combination of a fun, respectful, and supportive environment inspired me to settle into a full-time position at PT Northwest.

JB: Can you share some of the reasons you chose to settle in Salem, Oregon?

JH: I chose to stay in Salem because it’s an outdoor playground. It has incredible diversity in landscapes; within a short drive, I can visit stunning waterfalls, explore vast sand dunes, and even venture into desert areas. The mountains nearby provide fantastic hiking opportunities, and the coast is just an hour away, making it easy to enjoy a day at the beach whenever I want.

Additionally, Salem has a friendly and welcoming environment. The sense of community here is strong, and people are genuinely warm and kind. This makes living and working in Salem very enjoyable and fulfilling. The combination of breathtaking natural surroundings and a supportive community made Salem the perfect place for me to settle down.
