Insurance for Physical Therapy

As we ease into 2025, we know that some insurance plans have undergone changes, which can be stressful, especially when they disrupt your ability to continue care with your current provider. That’s why PT Northwest has a dedicated team to assist patients with insurance and billing.

One of the most common questions we hear at PT Northwest is, “Do you accept (insurance provider name) here?” Finding a physical therapy clinic that fits your coverage can feel overwhelming. We hope this blog post helps you navigate your insurance plan and choose the best course of action for the year ahead.

About PT Northwest

At PT Northwest, we are dedicated to helping you restore your active lifestyle through our exceptional physical, occupational, and speech therapy services. Serving Salem and the surrounding areas since 1977, we are a locally-owned, nationally-recognized leader in physical rehabilitation.

With clinics located throughout Oregon’s Willamette Valley, we offer specialized physical therapy services, including orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. In addition, our speech and occupational therapy services are available at Silverton Hospital and our Woodburn location.

We’re also proud to support our local athletic community as the Official Sports Therapy & Rehab Provider for the Corvallis Knights of the West Coast College Baseball League, the Portland Timbers U23 team, and Willamette University.

Maximize Your Insurance Benefits for PT

The cost of therapy can vary depending on the services needed, the length of care, and your specific insurance coverage. Maximizing your benefits can help make physical therapy more affordable. Here are a few simple tips to navigate the process:

  1. Verify your coverage: Before scheduling your sessions, contact your insurance provider to review your policy. Understand your coverage, copays, and deductibles.
  2. In-Network vs. Out-of-Network: In-network providers usually cost less since they have negotiated rates with your insurance. If you choose an out-of-network provider, be prepared for higher costs. Contact your insurance for a provider directory to verify network status – Network status may be available under our company name or by individual therapist.
  3. Handling insurance denials: If your claim is denied, review the denial explanation and consider appealing through your insurance. Reach out to your insurance company or the PNW Billing Team for guidance on how to proceed.

Payment Options for Physical Therapy

Insurance coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company. You are responsible for payment of all deductibles, coinsurances, and copays associated with your specific plan. Co-payments are due at the time of service. Contact our Billing Office at 503-540-8701 to arrange payment plans for deductible and coinsurance costs. We do offer self-payment options and we also accept Care Credit.
