We can’t believe that 2016 has already come and gone! This year has been filled with a number of impactful headlines, but we wanted to share one with you that was very near and dear to our hearts: Being named a 2016 Top Workplace Salem.
Each year, The Oregonian/OregonLive accepts both self-nominations and employee nominations from all over the state. They then use Workplace Dynamics, which is an employee research and consulting firm, to oversee the survey. Workplace Dynamics narrows down the initial nominations down to 1,136 workplaces, who they then invite to participate. More than 159 of those 1,136 workplaces agreed to make surveys available to their employees.
The answers were all anonymous, and covered alignment, effectiveness, connection, direct management, employee engagement, leadership, pay, benefits and flexibility. The smaller the workplace, the higher it tends to score—which is why The Oregonian divided them into the small, medium and large categories, to even out competition.
It is out of these surveys that PT Northwest was chosen for the award. We won under the Small Company category, which are companies with 100 or less employees. Because small companies tended to score higher than other sized companies, we consider this to truly be an honor!
The CEO of Workplace Dynamics, Doug Claffey, said in an opinion piece that the stronger economy means workers have more employers to choose from, which means workplaces have to strive harder to keep employees happy.
“What matters more are the ‘We’ factors,” he said. “With that connection, employees are willing to invest more of themselves. Without it, they are more likely to underperform or leave.”
PT Northwest is glad to be an employers with a “we” factor. And it doesn’t just show itself in how we treat our employees. It also comes out in how we work with our patients.
